Dr. Pennye Stammer Doud
Dr. Doud, born in New Mexico, refers to herself as a "retired military brat". After living throughout the Southeast, she settled in Maryland and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Dr. Doud received her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry, where she graduated with honors. At UHCO, she was elected to the Dean's List, was inducted into the Gold Key International Honor Society and the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society.

Dr Doud is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Maryland Optometric Association and serves as Vice President of the Anne Arundel Optometric Society. She is proud of her volunteer work within the community and currently serves as Chairperson of Central Elementary’s Math Madness Committee, parent classroom volunteer and as a religious education catechist for Holy Family Church. Dr. Doud currently resides in Edgewater with her husband, Gregg and their two children, Abigail and Aidan. In between chauffeuring her children around, Dr. Doud enjoys gardening and traveling.
| Christine Brown – Office Manager / Optician, ABO/NCLE Certified
Christine has made AVC her home for over ten years. She has been in the optical field for over 13 years and is certified by the American Board of Opticianry and National Contact Lens Examiners. Christine’s dedication and genuine joy in working with people has made her a favorite among our patients . Whether it’s taking care of her two boys or caring for her patients, she puts her heart into everything that she does.

Shanae Smith– Optician, ABO Certified
Shanae has been with the practice for over two years and has over 10 years of customer service experience. Our patients often make a special request for Shanae to help them in the optical boutique – she’s known for her calm, friendly manner and truly enjoys working with people. Shanae spends her spare time with her son, Devin and fiance< Karim and is currently very busy planning her upcoming wedding! |
Carlisa Gilmer – Lab Manager / Optician
Carlisa has over 19 years of experience in the optical industry. She is the next to the youngest of 12 children so she’s right at home in the hustle and bustle of our busy lab. Carlisa’s laugh and bubbly personality are contagious around the office and she loves to help patients whenever she can. She serves as Lay Pastor and Elder at the Rapture Church and enjoys spending time with her family, friends and two adorable grandsons, Nehemiah and Kylin.

Becky Nunn - Optometric Assistant
Becky joined our staff 2 years ago after relocating to Maryland from California. Becky's background as a busy mom of 3 and her fun-loving personality is especially helpful when taking care of our youngest patients. Becky has a love for traveling and adventure including living in Italy, Okinowa and visiting Germany and Spain. |
Alanna Knaus – Patient Services Coordinator
Alanna came to AVC after being in the medical and dental field for over 8 years. She is skilled with computers and has many years of management experience and a thorough understanding of third party insurance plans. Alanna is energetic, has a great sense of humor and is always willing to go the extra mile to help a patient.
